This photo -- LITTLE HUMMER -- was taken while sitting on the deck at our lake home in MN. We watched it as much as it was watching us. My mother-in-law has added potted flowers to the deck and is diligent about keeping the hummingbirds well-fed, so they like our deck, too. They have gotten used to us being there but still hover above to make sure they can drop in for "happy hour." We sip on a glass of wine while they have their own sugar water. They are so fun to watch when you can get this close, especially when they actually slow down for a minute or two. And when the bully comes, it adds a little excitement as they dart around acting tough. We have really enjoyed their company this summer and will miss them over the winter months. This photo will keep us company until they return in the spring.
